F1 2012 Season Trend – Post Spanish Grand Prix

Friday, May 18, 2012

The 2012 Formula One season is the most unpredictable in years. There are five winners in five races. It seems not one team in particular has the winning formula.

However after five races, some trends have started to appear:

  • Lewis Hamilton is the fastest man in qualifying. He qualified on pole position three times this year – Australia, Malaysia and Spain, but due to various reasons. He has yet to win a race.
  • Lotus currently has the fastest and most consistent pace on race days, but their results so far have been held up by poor strategy decisions.
  • To win a race this year, one must lead the race and build a gap in the early phase of the race.  This has all happened to the race winners so far, except Alonzo who won the Malaysian Grand Prix in wet weather condition. (Maldonado did not lead the Spanish Grand Prix in the first two stints, but both him and Alonzo pulled away from the rest).

The next race is Monaco Grand Prix. The track is narrow, and there are limited on track overtaking opportunities. Hence pole position is vital to the race victory.

In this case, things seem to be pointing towards Lewis Hamilton’s direction. But he will have to survive from the walls, traffic and safety cars!

Please read the latest blog update for more information.

The following are the odds for the driver and constructor’s championship after Spanish Grand Prix.

Driver’s Championship:

Vettel (61pts):              3.30

F1 Championship Betting Odds Update – Post Bahrain Grand Prix 2012

Tuesday, May 1, 2012

After Bahrain Grand Prix, there is once again a new championship leader. And this means the bookmakers’ favrouite to win the driver’s title has changed too.

Sebastian Vettel now leads the championship and is paying $2.75 to win the title. His odds at the end of Chinese Grand Prix were $5.00.

The other driver who had significant change to the odds was Kimi Raikkonen. After a second place finish in Bahrain, his odds have dropped from $41.00 to $17.00.

This does not make him a serious contender yet, but if he continues to deliver the way he did in Bahrain, his odds will certainly drop shorter than $10.00 soon!

Romain Grojean’s odds have also dropped from $126.00 to $51.00 after a third place finish!

The following are the odds for the driver and constructor’s championship.

Driver’s Championship:

Vettel (53pts):              2.75

Hamilton (49pts):         3.40

Button (43pts):             4.50

Rosberg (35pts):          13.00

Alonzo (43pts):            15.00

Webber (48pts):          15.00

Raikkonen (34pts):      17.00

Schumacher (2pts):     41.00

Grojean (23pts):          51.00

Perez (22pts):             201.00

Massa (2pts):              401.00

F1 Championship Betting Odds Update – Post Malaysian Grand Prix 2012

Monday, April 2, 2012

The result of Malaysian Grand Prix brought significant changes to the odds for the driver’s championship.

Although Fernando Alonzo won the race and has now become the leader of the championship, the bookmakers strongly doubt his success will continue with the struggling Ferrari. His odds to win the driver’s title are $9.00.

Jenson Button claimed the maximum points available in Australia, but scored zero points in Malaysia. He is now the second favourite ($3.50) to win the driver’s title behind his fellow teammate – Lewis Hamilton ($2.88).

Hamilton took pole positions in the first two races, but in both occasions he finished the race third.

Sebastian as well did not have much luck in Malaysia, finished with no points. He is now behind his teammate Mark Webber in the driver’s standing. However the bookmakers still favour Vettel better than Webber.

The following are the odds for the driver and constructor’s championship.

Driver’s Championship:

Hamilton (30pts):         2.88

Button (25pts):             3.50

Vettel (18pts):              3.75

Alonzo (35pts):            9.00

Webber (24pts):          17.00

Raikkonen (16pts):      34.00

Rosberg (0pts):            41.00

Schumacher (1pts):     41.00

Grojean (0pts):            101.00

Perez (22pts):                101.00

F1 Championship Betting Odds Update – Post Australian Grand Prix 2012

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

The first race of the year – Australian Grand Prix have got under way. It is worth mentioning that statistically there is a high percentage of Australian Grand Prix winner who turn out to be the winner of the driver’s title in the same year.

In the last ten Australian Grand Prix, seven times the winners were crowned the world champions at the end of the season.

This means Jenson Button is sitting at a comfortable position now to win the driver’s title in 2012. He had a brilliant drive at the Australian GP, outperformed teammate Lewis Hamilton just about in every way apart from qualifying.

The following are the odds for the driver and constructor’s championship.

Driver’s Championship:

Button (25pts):             2.88

Vettel (18pts):              3.00

Hamilton (15pts):         3.75

Webber (12pts):           17.00

Alonzo (10pts):            17.00

Rosberg (0pts):            26.00

Raikkonen (6pts):        34.00

Schumacher (0pts):     34.00

F1 World Championship Betting Odds – Post Indian Grand Prix 2011

The second place on the driver’s title race has become even clearer on Jenson Button’s second place finish in Indian Grand Prix.

Webber’s race starts have gotten better recently, but still continues to lose positions.

Alonzo continues to get the most out of the disappointing Ferrari F150, but at least he is not in a collision course like Hamilton.

Button (240 pts)                         1.22

Alonzo (227 pts)                         6.00

F1 World Championship Betting Odds – Post Korean Grand Prix 2011

Sunday, October 23, 2011

There are only three races remaining to the 2011 F1 World Championship. Jenson Button’s late season charge has ensured him to be bookmaker’s favourite driver to finish second on the driver’s standing.

Meanwhile Alonzo and Webber have swapped positions.

Despite Hamilton’s second place finish in Korea, he still remains the least likely driver to be the winner without Vettel.

Winner Without Vettel:

Button (222 pts)                         1.57

Alonzo (212 pts)                         6.00

Webber (209 pts)                        5.50

F1 World Championship Betting Odds – Post Japanese Grand Prix 2011

Thursday, October 13, 2011

The Betting market on the driver’s title second position has had a significant change after the result of Japanese Grand Prix.

Jenson Button is now the clear favourite after consecutive podium finishes and a race win in Suzuka.

There are still four races to go. Button is only eight points ahead of Alonzo.

Korean GP and Indian GP are the new territories to F1 teams. As last year’s Korean GP was covered by rain.

The championship season is coming to an end, and the odds are only getting shorter and shorter.

Winner Without Vettel:

Button (210 pts)                         1.62

Alonzo (202pts)                         4.50

Webber (194pts)                        5.00

Hamilton (178pts)                      13.00

F1 World Championship Betting Odds – Post Singapore Grand Prix 2011

Sunday, October 2, 2011

The betting options for 2011 F1 Driver’s title and constructor’s titles are now all but over, despite Vettel who has not officially wrapped up the championship yet.

This leaves the title winner without Vettel to be the only seasonal betting option left.

Winner Without Vettel:

Button (185 pts)                         2.63

Webber (182pts)                        3.50

Alonzo (184pts)                         4.00

Hamilton (168pts)                      4.50

The fight for second place still looks tight.

Jenson Button is the favourite at the moment as he has the highest points, and he has had consecutive podium finishes in recent races.

Mark Webber has the fastest car out of all four drivers, but his consistent poor stars have cost him many positions and hence championship points. In order for him to finish the season second, he will have to get the most out of the next couple of races.

Fernando Alonzo has not got the fastest car, but at least he always gets the most out of his Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton is having perhaps his worst season since his debut in 2007 yet. This will likely be the first time that he is beaten by his teammate.

The race results for the remainder of the championship should be much easier to predict. As Vettel and Red Bull have pretty much secured the championship, teams will switch the focus onto next year’s cars. Hence it is unlikely there will be significant upgrades to the cars from here on.

Red Bull has dominated in Japan and Brazil in the past two years. The next race of Japanese GP in Suzuka should see Vettel claiming the victory three years in a row!

F1 World Championship Betting Odds – Post Italian Grand Prix 2011

Sunday, September 18, 2011

Sebastian Vettel is about one race away from clinching the 2011 Formula One World Championship title, but his betting odds have already dropped to 1.00.

On the constructor’s championship, McLaren’s chance of challenging Red Bull is also closing quickly. Despite Webber’s DNF in Monza, McLaren’s odds have gone from 26.00 before the Italian Grand Prix to 51.00 after the Italian Grand Prix.

The second place betting option – Winner Without Vettel is still alive. Alonzo is now the sole favourite after Hamilton’s inconsistent race results.

Although Button has overtaken Hamilton on the driver’s championship standing. Hamilton is still considered as the faster McLaren driver by most, the odds shows Hamilton is more likely to finish the season with more points than Button.

Driver’s Championship:

Vettel (284 pts)             1.00

Alonzo (172 pts)           51.00

Hamilton (158 pts)        51.00

F1 World Championship Betting Odds – Post Belgian Grand Prix 2011

Sunday, September 4, 2011

Sebastian Vettel is one step closer to seal the 2011 driver’s title after he won the Belgian Grand Prix.

As the betting market shows, it is almost impossible for someone else to catch up to Vettel and challenge him for the title.

The odds on Vettel’s rivals have massively increased as the conclusion of Belgian Grand Prix.

However the market in driver’s title winner without Vettel is still alive. Alonzo, Hamilton and Webber are all paying 3.00. This will be an interesting battle for the rest of season. Consistent performance from these drivers will be required to be the best of the rest.

Driver’s Championship:

Vettel (259 pts)             1.03

Alonzo (157 pts)           34.00

Hamilton (146 pts)        34.00

F1 World Championship Odds – Post Hungarian Grand Prix 2011

Sunday, August 14, 2011

It is half way through the four weeks long summer break in the 2011 Formula One season.

It looks like the driver’s championship is already determined. Although Vettel has not won a race since the European Grand Prix in Valencia, Hamilton, Button and Alonzo keep on taking off each others’ points by winning races.

As the championship moves to the second half, time is running out to stop Vettel from wrapping up the championship.

On the other side, it seems McLaren has a chance to challenge Red Bull for the constructor’s championship.

The two McLaren drivers have more consistent results so far compare to the two Red Bull drivers. Hamilton and Button have won two races each, but Webber has yet to win a race yet.

McLaren will need more race victories from either of their driver, and they will be able to catch up to Red Bull if Webber continues to be inconsistent in second half.

McLaren is paying 17.00 to win the constructor’s championship. It is definitely worth it to keep an eye on!

Driver’s Championship:

Vettel (234 pts)             1.06

Alonzo (145 pts)           13.00

Hamilton (146 pts)        15.00

Button (134 pts)            34.00

Webber (149 pts)          67.00

Constructor’s Championship:

Red Bull (383 pts)        1.02

McLaren (280 pts)        17.00

Ferrari (215 pts)            67.00

F1 World Championship Betting Odds – Post German Grand Prix 2011

Despite finishing outside the podium, Vettel’s odds to win the title still remains at 1.07. Meanwhile Hamilton’s odds have gone from 34.00 prior to the German Grand Prix to 17.00.

Time will slowly run out as the championship has moved to the second half. Hamilton has won more races than anyone else except Vettel. If he does not win more races, then Vettel will wrap up the championship very shortly. And very soon we will only be talking about the 2012 F1 Championship.

Driver’s Championship:

Vettel (216 pts)             1.07

Alonzo (130 pts)           13.00

Hamilton (134 pts)        34.00

Webber (139 pts)          41.00

F1 Championship Betting Odds – Post British Grand Prix 2011

Sunday, July 17, 2011

Fernando Alonzo’s race victory in Silverstone has made the 2011 championship a bit more exciting than it had been.

So far three drivers other than Vettel have won races, and surprisingly Webber who drives the same car as Vettel is not one of them.

Lewis Hamilton won the Chinese Grand Prix with strategy.

Jenson Button won the Canadian Grand Prix by forcing Vettel into a rare mistake in semi-dry track condition in the final laps of the race.

And Fernando Alonzo won the British Grand Prix due to Red Bull’s pit stop mistake.

Last season Ferrari did not have a good start as well, but Alonzo’s late season charge plus Webber’s late season slump brought the championship into a four horse race towards the end.

Alonzo’s British GP victory has not made much difference to Vettel’s odds of driver’s championship, but as Ferrari is catching up to Red Bull’s pace, we will see the increase of Vettel’s odds if Alonzo wins some more races in the second half of the season.

The 2011 driver’s title is there for Vettel’s to lose, but consistent race victory from one of the three drivers who have won races this season will be the only way Vettel’s odds will lengthen.

Driver’s Championship:

Vettel (204 pts)             1.07

Alonzo (112 pts)            11.50

Hamilton (109 pts)        34.00

Webber (124 pts)         34.00

Button (109 pts)           52.00

Constructor’s Championship:

Red Bull (328 pts)        1.02

McLaren (218 pts)       17.25

Ferrari (164 pts)           52.00

Winner Without Vettel:

Hamilton: 4.80

Webber:   2.64

Alonzo:     2.47

Button:     7.80

F1 World Championship Betting Odds – Post European Grand Prix 2011

Sunday, July 3, 2011

European Grand Prix showed even the changes in rule interpretation was not able to stop Vettel from winning more races.

As the second place finisher continues to vary from race to race. It is helping Vettel to wrap up this year’s championship in the shortest time ever.

The last time there was such dominance in the championship was 2004, where Michael Schumacher won thirteen out of eighteen races. Of the five races he did not win, his teammate at the time Barrichello won two of them.

In 2009 it also looked like Button was going to dominate Barrichello in Brawn GP, but Barrichello still won two races that season.

Although it is certain that Vettel will wrap up the championship sooner or later, statistics still give his teammate Webber a few chances to win races.

The bookmakers don’t favour Webber well, therefore there is a chance to cash in big money on Webber’s race win some time this season!

Driver’s Championship:

Vettel (186 pts)             1.05

Hamilton (97 pts)        21.00

Webber (109 pts)           21.00

Alonzo (87 pts)            26.00

Button (109 pts)           26.00

Constructor’s Championship:

Red Bull (295 pts)        1.03

McLaren (206 pts)       10.00

Ferrari (129 pts)             101.00

Winner Without Vettel:

Hamilton: 3.25

Webber: 3.25

Alonzo: 4.00

Button: 4.00

F1 World Championship Betting Odds – Post Canadian Grand Prix 2011

Sunday, June 19, 2011

Although Sebastian Vettel failed to seal the victory in the Canadian Grand Prix, he nevertheless finished second. With the aid of Hamilton’s DNF and Button’s race win, Vettel is still moving closer to secure the 2011 driver’s title.

The odds for Vettel to win the title have further dropped to 1.10 from 1.25 prior to the Canadian Grand Prix. The second favourite is now shared by Hamilton and Alonzo, both are 15.00.

From the odds it looks like the driver’s championship is almost over, but on the betting options on Winner Without Vettel is still worth keeping an eye on. Everyone on the list is at least 3.00. There are plenty of races to go in the 2011 championship, that betting option will have long odds for another while.

As Sebastian Vettel moves closer and closer to secure 2011 Diver’s title, some interesting betting options have appeared.

F1 World Championship Betting Odds – Post Turkish Grand Prix 2011

Saturday, May 14, 2011

After Vettel’s yet another race win in Turkey, the odds for him to win this year’s driver’s title has further decreased. Red Bull is still leading the pack after the three weeks break between the Chinese GP and Turkish GP. This shows Red Bull’s development is way ahead and it looks like they will dominate for a while!

Vettel’s odds was 3.50 before the season began. After winning the first race in Australia, it dropped massively to 1.78. Although it increased slightly from 1.62 to 1.72 after losing out to Lewis Hamilton in China.

Hamilton’s odds has increased slightly from race to race. It obviously lowered a bit after winning in China, but as Vettel increases the lead on the driver’s title standing race by race, all other drivers’ odds are heading in the opposite direction to Vettel.

Driver’s Championship:

Vettel: 1.35

Hamilton: 5.00

Alonzo: 10.00

Webber: 12.00

Button: 26.00

Schumacher: 67.00

Rosberg: 67.00

F1 World Championship Betting Odds – Post Chinese Grand Prix 2011

Sunday, April 24, 2011

An exciting race of Chinese Grand Prix has shifted the momentum of the championship. All of the sudden it doesn’t look like Vettel will drive his RB7 into distance and become the 2011 F1 World Champion any time soon.

Winning races in Formula One isn’t about having the fastest car in qualifying and race anymore. It is also about having the right strategy.

The odds for both drivers’ championship and constructors’ championship haven’t changed too much as the result of Chinese Grand Prix. This is because it is still early days in the season. Although Hamilton has proved Red Bull isn’t unbeatable.

As the championship moves back to Europe, we are going to see more frequent updates from teams. There is a three weeks gap between Chinese GP and Turkish GP. This gives teams plenty of time to work on their cars, especially Ferrari who is in trouble at the moment. We might see the resurrection of Ferrari after this three weeks break or we might see Red Bull and McLaren pulling away from the rest of the field.

The following are the odds and points for the driver’s championship and constructor’s championship at the conclusion of Chinese Grand Prix.

Driver’s Championship:

Vettel (68 points) 1.72

Hamilton (47 points) 3.25

Alonzo (26 points) 12.00

Webber (37 points) 15.00

Button (38 points) 15.00

Rosberg (10 points) 76.00

Massa (24 points) 151.00

Schumacher (2 points) 201.00

Heidfeld (15 points ) 301.00

Petrov (17 points) 301.00

Constructor’s Championship:

Red Bull (105 points) 1.40

McLaren (85 points) 3.25

Ferrari (50 points) 12.00

Mercedes (16 points) 101.00

Renault (32 points) 201.00
